For Vasek, working at the Hotel Icon for five years and now at the sister property The Driskill hotel is familiar territory. He served as executive sous chef for the locations' previous tenant, BANK Jean-Georges, where he was instrumental in the opening of the noteworthy venue as well as production of the property's premium catering and special event offerings. Also during his time at BANK, Vasek was granted the opportunity to train directly with famed Jean-Georges Vongerichten in New York. A graduate of The Art Institute of Houston, Vasek earned his Associate of Applied Science Degree in Culinary Arts in 1999. He has held posts in the kitchens of Houston's Riviera Grill at the Alden Hotel, Gregory's, Buttarazzi's, Voice at the Hotel Icon and the Lemon Tree Café in Bellville, TX. Vasek's Texas roots and professional experience in the region has allowed him to develop strong relationships with local farmers and farming network across the state, He will bring his first -rate access to fresh, seasonal produce to the Driskill hotel.
